Multiplication & Division Concepts: Grade 4 begins the year with further study of Multiplication and Division, extending to multi-digit quantities. Students learn to multiply 2-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers and up to 4- digit numbers by 1 digit numbers. They also divide up to 4-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers and interpret remainders in the context of the situation. In addition, they’re introduced to the final problem solving structure—multiplicative comparison
Unit 1 Multiplication and Division Concepts
4.OA.1 (Multiplicative Comparison)
4.OA.2 (Multiply or divide for word problems with drawings and equations)
4.NBT.1 (Place value as multiplicative comparison)
4.NBT.2 (Read, write and compare multi-digit numbers)
4.OA.4 (Factor pairs/prime or composite) *supporting standard
4.NBT.5 (Multiply 4-digit by 1-digit, 2-digit by 2-digit)
4.NBT.6 (Divide 4-digit by 1-digit, interpret remainders)
